Currys Ltd Opening of their first Superstore at 5-11
Martineau Way, Union Street above Littlewoods. The Littlewoods
Building had a roof top car park (it may still be in use)? cars were
taken up and down by two lifts in the entrance to service bay.

The Broad Street branch near Five Ways was the only branch at that time
that had not been modernised in the 1960's and remained open until the
opening of the new superstore.

The average weekly wage was about �18 a week and we did not need
calculators to add up the money!
