Two of Birminghams most popular visitor attractions have scrapped
admission charges from this Easter meaning all the citys museums
are now free for tourists and local people to appreciate their heritage.
The council-run Museum of the Jewellery Quarter and Soho House, which previously charged for admission, have now come into line with other venues including Aston Hall, Tolkiens Sarehole Mill and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in the city centre. Museums boss Graham Allen said the policy change in time for the Easter holidays would be a great bonus for local people and visitors.

| Birminghams museums are a great source of inspiration. They are wonderful places to spend leisure time with family and friends as well as impressing visiting relatives, he said. | |

The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter in Hockley is based on the old Smith and Pepper jewellery workshop which was abandoned by the family in the 1980s. It is now an award- winning museum giving a glimpse of working life. Soho House, Mathew Boultons former home in Handsworth, has an important place in the history of the industrial revolution. Great thinkers of the time met there as members of the Lunar Society.
