I came to live in Brum when I was about 18 months old, from Trench in
Shropshire. My father was transferred by Vickers Armstrong to work
in Sheldon, which is where we first lived. It was war time
and other children where being evacuated to the country I was doing the
opposite. From Sheldon we moved to 'big' Charles Road and from
there to Bordesley Green Road, the war was still on and the Germans were
desperate to 'get' the Morris down the road. |

I lived in Bordesley Green Road until I got married in 1961. I went to Alston Road Jnr Inf. and to Bordesley Green Sec, Mod Girls which was then in Marchmont Rd/Drummond Road. I also attended Victoria Street Baptist Church from the age of 4 to 14 and sang a solo on every anniversary. |

I am now living in Lichfield. I visited the site of my old home (
Now an industrial estate) on the anniversary of VE day. It is not
the same anymore. I was very sad. I cant describe how I
felt, maybe if I said it did not seem a place for people , or at
least people who care, anymore. Perhaps I chose a bad day. |
