c 1903 Joseph Westwood on the right at the back was the entrepreneur behind the chain of fruit and vegetable businesses in Springfield, Sparkhill, Sparkbrook and Bournbrook. He was a powerful figure in the retail fruit trade.  In the back row on the left are Kate, then Gertrude, Margaret, Jessy and Joseph. In the front are Phoebe, Josephine, Fred, Garnet, Ida, and Lincoln, with Molly in front of Phoebe. Kate married Thomas Coldrick, who helped Joseph to run the shops during World War I.
They moved to the Vineries in Acocks Green when it was was bought by the Westwoods, by which time Thomas was a partner in the business, Later Tom Coldrick became an important figure in the Retail Fruiterer's Association in his own right, becoming President in 1937.
