The Bear Inn Chef and Brewer

What has happened to this great eating inn? We have eaten at the Bear many times and other Chef and Brewer inns around country. For the first time we had a disastrous visit. We will not be returning again!

Got there at 5pm in plenty of time to leave before 6:30pm to go onto the nearby NEC to see the Jasper Carrot's Rock with Laughter show. We arrived to an unusually near empty car park. Plenty of spare tables instead of the usual busy place. Went to the bar ordered drink's. The menu has changed! The blackboard that were crammed with all sorts of wonderful  dishes to suit everyone were pretty bare! My wife went for the Roasted Pepper Timbales (v) off the main menu. Sorry that is not available tonight! so have you got ????? Sorry that is also not available tonight. Have you got any other Veggie? Yes the Mediterranean Pie on the Blackboard. I like Seafood so the Seaford Pasta �12.95 from the Black board it is.

After waiting over 30 minuets I asked the nice Aussie barmaid to what the delay was, she checked with the kitchen an told me sorry just 1 or 2 minutes. 15 minutes later still no food, Asked another the waitress who said it's coming just now!  About 7 or 8 minutes later the food arrived. The Mediterranean Pie was just a vegetable Pie and a few new potatoes. The Seafood was all Pasta and little Seafood, 6 mussels, 2 or Scallops, and tiny Shrimps. Wow!

We did not not have time to work my way through all the pasta so left most.

Asked to see the manager before paying and Guess what they have just changed and supplier problems. Max he would knock off the bill was 10% Wow! If I had time to stop and argue it would have been at 30% if not a full refund!

Remember. If you have been a regular at this place it has changed, New Menu, New staff (barmaids and waitress were pleasant enough) New Manager? It should be easier to find a seat as I am sure there will be loads others that avoid this place.
