Ward End House, or the Park House, was the home of the Marshall family, Ward End Bankers, during the 19th century. George William Marshall, the genealogist, was born here in 1839, and sold the property to Frederick Gwyther, an electro-plate manufacturer in 1884. He died in 1891. His widow, Charlotte Elizabeth lived in the house until 1895, but she remarried a year later and became Mrs Jaehnichen. She sold the house and part of the land to Birmingham Corporation in 1903 and a year later it became Ward End Park.

The pool was dug by unemployed men in the winter of 1908-9.and a plaque stating this can be seen on the front of the house.wardendpark.jpg (45113 bytes)
