Birmingham Chinese New Year Celebrations 2006

The year of the Dog was welcomed in with an exciting afternoon of entertainment including the famous dragon dance, acrobats, plate spinners, martial arts exhibitions and a feast of cultural food, stalls and music.
The event was organise by the Birmingham Chinese Festival Committee.

Thousands of people filled the Arcadian Centre to watch the events

The event started with the traditional Dragon Dance and Firecrackers

Traditional Dress Fashion Show
The traditional Dragon Dance heralds the Lion or Dragon, whose famous dances frighten evil away and bring luck.
Chinese Market Stalls on the upper section of the Arcadian were selling traditional gifts, face painting, handwriting and lanterns
